About me

Sarah Poppleton
Artist
I have become known for my contemporary landscapes in oils which are primarily concerned with the peculiar quality of light on that particular day. I am often inspired by transitory light effects - shadows, reflections and glimmers of light on water. I paint in a representational way but one in which I hope to convey my thoughts about the light and warmth in order to take the viewer further into that time and place than the mere scene. Each painting is unique and, I hope, uplifting.
I enjoy working outside, painting en plein air in oils, and this often invigorates my studio work. My studio is in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, but I spend a fair amount of time in Cornwall too, attracted by the clear light and big skies, where I know I will always find inspiration.
